The Poetry of Space

Through comprehending the historical landscape of the iconic Eu Tong Sen Street, the artistic concept for the highly esteemed Members'-Only Club marries the traditional classics and modern elegance without any conflicts. The Members'-Only Club is illustrated by three main characteristics - Heritage, Power & Surprise.

In ancient China, the circle is a cultural symbol that is representative of harmony, the balance of Yin and Yang, and the duality of nature. Hence, the circle is a constant design language that is being expressed in the highly esteemed members' only club.

The entrance welcomes a shift of atmosphere - Members and guests alike are led into a drawn-out entrance creating a sense of mysticism. The entrance is guided by the leading lines enhanced by the wallpaper-panelled walls and lighting to the feature reception counter. To stimulate the senses and our minds, varying textures were introduced into the space that was allegorical to the Chinese philosophy of the 5 fundamental elements that make up all things, also known as '五行'; 金 木 水 火 土 (metal, wood, water, fire and earth).

The centre of attention in the entrance, the bronze reception counter is a representation of '金' (metal); The wood texture floor as '木’ (wood); The rippled stainless steel ceiling mimics the element of '水' (water); The lighting as '火' (fire); The vertical dry landscape feature symbolises '土' (wood).

The lounge acts as a front room for socialising. There was a diversity of pocket spaces that catered to different settings - from an intimate discussion to a friendly colloquy. The tea lounge, for instance, flaunts a greater sense of formality; the bigger lounge is tailored for a more casual ambience; the feature bench allows for one to completely unwind in solemn.

Red, symbolising power, is a running colour in the distinguished spaces and has an air of luxury and confidence.
